Fulton, MO
The Principia College Women's Tennis Team traveled to Fulton, Missouri to take on the Westminster College Blue Jays in a Saturday morning SLIAC matchup. The Panthers came out strong in their doubles matches, going up 3-0 against the Blue Jays. From there, the Panthers continued their strong play in the singles matchups, winning the match 9-0.
At 1st doubles,
Paige Cooley and
Caitlin Carney continued their strong play winning 8-2. At 2nd doubles, Hanne Anderson and
Anh Vu imposed their will on the Westminster team, also winning 8-2. At 3rd doubles,
Justine Roy and
Lena Carlson played flawless tennis throughout, coming away with the 8-0 win.
In singles,
Paige Cooley was able to dispatch her opponent with relative ease, 6-0, 6-0. At 2nd singles, Hanne Anderson also was able to control the play, dictating all the points on her way to a 6-0, 6-0 win. At 3rd singles,
Justine Roy built on her impressive singles win against Webster University with a clinical 6-1, 6-1 win.
At 4th singles,
Caitlin Carney struggled for much of her first set before finding her game at the end, winning the set 7-5. Carney was able to win the second set with little trouble, winning 7-5, 6-1. At 5th singles,
Lena Carlson won as her opponent retired in the middle of her match. At 6th singles,
Nathalie DeLoach played her normal steady brand of tennis, using her backhand to dictate play, winning 6-2, 6-2.
Principia moves to 3-1 in SLIAC play. They wrap up their SLIAC regular season at Greenville College on Tuesday, April 19th at 4:30 PM.
