Elsah, ILL. -- Principia Beach Volleyball hosted Missouri Baptist for a Parent's Weekend matchup. The winds were whipping at well over 20mph, making it all about ball control within the elements. Both teams kept a smile on their face even as the gusts blew sand in their eyes – it was a day to be remembered. Missouri Baptist got the "w" for the day, with pair wins from
Emma Herman and
Sierra Sprague, Zoe Mahler and
Makena Patterson, as well as
Emelie Fredrikson and
Cha Cha Fisher.
The atmosphere was great at "The Sandbox" with parents, peers and lots of Missouri Baptist fans. The hillside was filled with fans enjoying the music and play. Thank you to all that came out to support!
Coach Sprague was very pleased with the Panthers' determination and willingness to lay out to keep the ball flying. When the women controlled the first ball, great things happened. The offense clicked and points racked up. Principia just had more lapses during the day than Missouri Baptist – too many serving errors and errant serve receive runs. Missouri Baptist is too good to give a string of points to, and still be able to climb back in the match.
Principia Beach volleyball travels to the Small College National Championships this weekend, and they look forward to putting everything into action they have learned from their past few outings.
