Elsah, ILL. -- Webster came into the match tonight having already secured a spot in the 2017 SLIAC Volleyball Tournament, marking a conference-best 23rd appearance. Principia is looking to claim a spot in the tournament for the first time since 2013. The Panthers are trying to shake the "underdog" label, and tonight's fight helped their cause! Game one was all Principia with the Gorloks hitting the ball out too much, and Principia's serving making it impossible for the Gorloks to run their offense ending up in a 25-15 easy victory. Game two was the money game. With Principia clawing their way to a 22-16 lead, the game should have been Prin's, but Webster crept back in and ruffled the Panthers just enough to create their own momentum enroute to winning 27-25. Game three was all Principia again 25-18, and game four was anybody's game with lead changes and many ties, but a few miscommunications and few too many hits into the Gorlok block did the Panthers in to the tune of 20-25. Game five was a bit frantic – a real defensive frenzy and Webster did a better job of keeping the ball flying and earning some points behind tenacious defense winning the deciding set 15-8.
