Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball loses knock-down-drag out 5 set battle to Greenville

  • Elsah, ILL. -- What a match! Both teams were tough, powerful and resilient in this rematch of the Panthers. Greenville played determined to not be swept by Principia, and in the end they won it fair and square, but the numbers show how even this match was. It was a defensive battle that Greenville really upped their game for, and that combined with a bit more offense was enough to take down Principia. Greenville did a nice job of continuing to pound the ball to keep Prin's block and defense honest, while Prin sent a few too many easy balls to their diggers allowing Greenville to convert dig to kill a bit better.

Inside the Box Score

  • #11 Abby Freeman of Greenville had a great match pounding balls and leading the match with 19 kills. Prin's Sophia Hathaway was close behind with 18.

They said it
  • Coach Sprague commented, "Greenville brought it tonight, and this is what it is like at the top of the heap. We ARE ready to work a bit harder and get better these last few weeks. We ARE exercising our believe muscle every day, and we will be ready to compete come tournament time!"
  • "Today was a tough loss, but this team will not go out without a fight and that's definitely what we gave them today. The greatest part was each girl on the court was working for the person next to them. Our team is so selfless and ready to give 110% for each other. I can't wait to play them again." ~ Devon Marunde
