Volleyball finishes conference play with sweep over Spalding

Louisville, KY. -- Principia had a slow start against Spalding finding themselves in a 3-7 deficit quickly. The Panthers clawed their way back to tie it 13-13. Nothing came easy for the Prin women in this match, so kudos to the group for never giving in. It was more of a battle than the score shows with PC taking game one 25-18. Phew - game two was another rough beginning with Spalding getting on an early roll and earning a 16-8 lead. The Panthers continued to work the problem and cut the gap considerably before dropping game two 22-25.  Principia actually got things going at the beginning of game three, and despite a 14-10 start Spalding tied it at 18-18.  The rest of the game was a back and forth battle that went to Prin 25-23 in the end. Game four belonged to Prin who outhit SU .186 - .089 to win the match and record the season swept over the Golden Eagles.

  • "I'm grateful that the team remained unified today. Our play was a little off and there were temptations to give in to frustration. But we stayed together, loved each other, and pushed each other because that's who we are."
