Fulton, MO. -- The Women's Basketball team traveled to Fulton, Missouri to play Westminster College. This was the last game before the players head off for Christmas break.
The Panthers stayed even with the Blue Jays in the first half, finishing in a tie at halftime. The Panthers were outscored in the third quarter and couldn't catch up in the fourth.
The team fought hard despite having to play three quarters without starting point guard Megan Selby after a first quarter injury, and then top scorer Sophia Hathaway fouled out early in the fourth quarter.
Key moment:
Sophia Hathaway and Nikki Matters led the team in scoring while Libby Lewis and Anna Webster also added to the offensive attack. The team's goal was to lower the number of turnovers and the team accomplished this by only having 16 turnovers for the game..
Good to know:
This was the last game of the season for Sophia Hathaway as she heads on the New Zealand Abroad and Liz McAloney will be on the St. Lucia trip through January 20. These two will be missed!
They said it:
"I was proud of how the team fought to the end, even though losing a few of the starting players. They never gave up."
~Head Coach Dory Smith
Up next:
The Panthers have a home game vs. Millikin University on Thursday, January 4 at 7:00 pm.
