Volleyball goes one and one on the first day of Illinois College Tournament

Jacksonville, ILL. -- The Panthers move to 4-0 on the week with a straight set victory over Robert Morris Springfield at the Illinois College Tourney in Jacksonville. This match gave the younger players some serious playing time, and they did a good job of controlling their game and the match.

Grinnell took control of the next match beating Principia in three straight sets, although PC put up a fight losing game two 26-28 and game three 22-25. Grinnell played a similar game as the Panthers with scrappy, never-say-die defense- making it hard for PC to score, and holding them to a meager .123 hitting percentage. That puts the Panthers at 7-2 on the season.

• Cha Cha Fisher led offense with 8 kills hitting .238, and Makena Patterson added 7 and Mesa Goebel 5.
• Noelle Shoemake was tough at the service line posting 8 aces and serving 100%, and Victoria Vandiver added 3 of her own.

Vs Grinnell

• The Panthers were outhit by Grinnell, but kept their errors at a very reasonable 9%.
• Six Panthers recorded double digit digs, with Mia Gill and Sophia Hathaway at 23, and Devon Marunde 22.

• Coach Sprague said, "It was great to get the whole team some playing time today, and the match against Grinnell hopefully inspired the Panthers to persist and progress in our signature game."
