Principia Panthers hosted Simpson College on the second game of a back-to-back Saturday.
From the start of the game it was clear it was to be a grind out tight game. Both teams had played the previous night and both teams had to face the heat. Simpson College came into the game with a lot of momentum with a 5-0 win versus Westminster College. Principia on the other hand came off a tough game and had to dig deep and bring a different work ethic into this game.
The Panthers made a point of emphasis to give everything they had and not be out worked and they did just that. After 40 minutes of fight, freshman Kaleb Keller ripped a bomb from 25 yards out to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead before half.
The second half proved to be even tougher for Principia. A sloppy defensive transition led to the tying goal for Simpson College in the 60th minute. Principia continued the fight despite conceding what proved to be the game winning goal for Simpson in the 84th minute. It was a much different effort from Principia's previous game despite not getting the win.
Good To Know
David McLeod-Warrick started in goal for this first time this season. David has had little reps at the position as he was starting at left back the previous evening. David preformed very well and kept the Panthers in the game.
They Said It
"Today's game reflected better how we can work as a team, and more importantly for the team. Nobody was worried about fatigue because everyone was focused on playing as a team. Everyone gave what they had to offer, and moving forward we need to work on our defensive discipline."
