Decatur, ILL. -- Principia Men's Soccer traveled to Decatur, IL to face The Big Blue of Millikin College on a fine Saturday night. Principia went into the game with a solid game plan and a desire to execute. Right off the bat Millikin came at the Panthers with a solid cross followed by a header, David McLeod-Warrick made a spectacular save to keep the game at zeros. Both teams settled in and played back and forth until the 20th minute. Millikin was able to break the dead lock with a solid cross and finish. Principia struggled to get going all through out the first half and this was capped off by a goal for Millikin just before half. A mental mistake led to a quick counter attack goal to put The Big Blue up 2-0 going into half.
The second half was a big improvement from the first. The Panthers came out with more energy and purpose and right of the bat created a goal that was unfortunately called back for offside's. George Agai was able to use his speed and skill to attack the Millikin defense and create a few chances. Unfortunately as much as Principia fought back they could not make a comeback and fell 2-0.
Good To Know
Principia was outshot 20-5 in the game, but David McLeod-Warrick played a fantastic game to keep Principia in it. David had a monster 12 saves in the game. Many of the saves were tough one on one shots.
They Said It
"Tonight's game was a battle through and through. Millikin got up early and we were chasing until the end. We dominated the second half, and even after each team was down a man we still had a firm hold on the game."
