Elsah, IL. – The
Principia Men's Soccer team hosted Rose-Hulman from Terre Haute, IN on Tuesday evening which turned out to be a wet game. Rose-Hulman and Principia had both played a mutual opponent in Millikin University, and both played them closely. That being said it would prove to be an evenly matched game throughout.
Principia conceded an early goal as their defense fell asleep on top of the 18 and Webb shot a ball into the corner of the goal. This early goal didn't slow the Panthers as they fought back and maintained a solid hold on the game going into half time. In the second half Webb was able to find an opening and fired a second shot that tucked just under the crossbar to give Rose-Hulman a second goal. From this point forward the Panther's dominated the ball and created countless opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net in the pouring rain. There was some good to take away from the 2-0 loss as Principia looks forward to their first conference game Saturday.
Good To Know:
Principia has improved offensively each game this season and had a dominant second half tonight. The Panther men out shot Rose-Hulman 15-8 in the second half and ultimately 19-18 for the total game. The goals are coming.
They said it:
"We fought a tough battle for 90 minutes and we controlled the play for most of the game. We just couldn't find the back of the net in the attacking third. We are immediately looking forward to Saturday and conference play."
