Lady Panthers fall to Millikin Big Blue in a tough contest

Elsah, ILL.-- Principia Women's Basketball took on Millikin University at home for their first game following Christmas break. Millikin is a very talented team and outscored the Panthers in all four quarters, shooting 47% overall. However, that did not keep Principia from giving their all- they never gave up and worked hard until the end.

Key moment:
Nikki Matters led the team in scoring with 23 points followed by Megan Selby who scored 17, including 3 three-point shots. Hannah Hathaway was the top rebounder for the Panthers racking up 10 tonight for Principia. The team continued to do well from the free throw line, shooting 83% and only had 12 turnovers.

Good to know:
This game included a change in roster for the Panthers with Sophia Hathaway in New Zealand on the Principia Abroad and Liz McAloney on the Principia trip to St. Lucia. Nikki Matters and Anna Webster, who were on the Principia Abroad trip to Peru in the fall, played their first home game of the season.

They said it:
"What impressed me the most tonight was the good play by the bench players who have not seen as much playing time. Sabrina Netherwood made some great moves under the basket and Christina Redington was so quick on defense. Millikin was a very good team and our women never stopped fighting."

Up next:
The Panthers play next at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois on Monday, January 8th at 7:00 pm.
