Sandy Panthers Show Heart, but Fall Short

Montgomery, AL. --The Beach Volleyball team played two today in Montgomery, Alabama, losing to both Lincoln Memorial and Huntingdon College. As hard as it is to lose, the Panthers showed improvement in their ball control and serving. Every pair played with courage and heart, but the two teams we played were more effective on the whole with their offense. Their ability to hit the ball, stroke the ball and shot the ball provided enough of a balanced attack to truly stretch the Panthers beyond what they could handle.

Each pair knew what they were striving for, with some working hard to keep the ball flying and minimizing their errors. Other teams worked to deliver a more diverse offense and were determined to find the sand to score.

Mesa Goebel and Sarah Ungerleider, Jessica Bayne and Leigh Weathers, and Makena Patterson and Victoria Vandiver all took an opponent to three games, and Mesa and Sarah finished the match against LMU with only two serving errors!

The team is motivated to begin Spring Break training and to keep tightening up their ball control, while building a more effective offense and becoming more intimidating servers.
