Elsah, ILL. -- In their second game of the season, Principia Men's Soccer fell short by a goal in their 1-0 loss against a hard fighting Millikin University team. The game was tied after the first half with both teams having some good opportunities. However it was Millikin's set piece goal on a long throw-in that would give them the lead in the 81
st minute. Principia had a number of great combinations in and around the Millikin box throughout the game, but they saw their shots go just wide or stopped by strong Millikin goal keeping.
Principia captain, Kaden Keller, commented after the game, "we are continuing to click as a team. We have a bunch of new freshman who are making a major impact. I see this team going in the right direction and I'm excited about the games to come. The recent results of the games do not reflect what the team is capable of. Our team has a bright season ahead of them".
Key Moment:
David McLeod Warrick had 9 saves on the game including an acrobatic save to keep the Panthers in the game in the 83rd minute.
Fun Fact:
Five Freshman started the game for the Panthers tonight.
They said it:
"We will only get better as a team. We will become harder and harder to beat because of our great character. Our brotherhood will strengthen with each practice and game, we will never give up and will always have a winning outlook"
