Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Panthers Fall on the Road at Spalding

Louisville, KY – The Panthers traveled to Louisville to take on the Spalding Golden Eagles in a SLIAC matchup that featured two teams both looking to build off of wins in their previous games. The game was very evenly matched throughout, but eventually, the Golden Eagles would pull away from the Panthers and take the game by a score of 75-61.

The game started off very competitive as both teams traded baskets and neither team seemed to gain an advantage. Early baskets from TreVaughn Goodman, Zack Matters, and Micah Paulson got the scoring started for the Panthers, and the team defense kept the Spalding offense at bay. With 8:12 remaining in the first half, a driving lay-up from Goodman would stretch the Panther lead to 5, which would be their largest of the game. For the remainder of the half, Spalding would slowly chip away at the Panther lead, and after a 3-pointer at the buzzer, Spalding would take a 6-point lead into halftime up 29-23.

Starting the second half, Spalding would come out firing as they looked to tighten their grip on the lead. 5 minutes into the half, Spalding's Robert Bendingfield would hit two free-throws that would put the Golden Eagles up by 12 before a Panther timeout. Facing some adversity, the Panther team did not quit, and just 3 minutes later, they had cut the Eagles lead down to 5 with the score being 41-46 with 9 minutes left. Freshman Clark Davidson fueled the run for the Panthers as he went on a 8-0 run by himself, and Junior Brennan Paulson knocked down some big 3-pointers to keep the Panthers close. The last 9 minutes would mostly belong to the Golden Eagles as the Panthers were forced to foul and play the free throw game towards the end of the half. After the final buzzer, the Golden Eagles would take this conference matchup 75-61.

Good To Know

Freshman Clark Davidson had another huge double-double for the Panthers today as he led all scorers with 21 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Micah Paulson poured in 18 points, to go along with 5 rebounds as well.
