Principia Men's Soccer traveled to Eureka College for their second conference matchup of the season. Principia controlled the statistics but struggled to find the back of the net in the first half.Â
Â
Cameron Sellers scored the first goal of the match on a penalty kick that was won by
Gabriel Ferreira Theodoro. Despite double-digit shots in the first half, Sellers provided the only goal of the opening 45 minutes. Â Eureka's goalkeeper, Moises Aldana played an outstanding game, making 15 saves to keep the Red Devils in the match for as long as possible.
Â
The second half told a different story as the Panthers wore down the Red Devils. Five minutes into the second period
Cole Heinbaugh doubled the Principia lead.Â
Patrick Sherman was a nuisance to the Red Devils' defense scoring twice in the second half. Theodoro also created a number of chances in the second half and won a penalty kick in the 75
th minute. Eureka's goalkeeper initially saved the penalty shot, but Theodoro quickly pounced on the rebound and finished decisively.Â
Mourad Sami entered the game to help the Panthers see out the last ten minutes and made an instant impact as he found a breakaway that he neatly slotted into the bottom right corner. The game ended 6-0 in favor of Principia.Â
