Elsah, ILL. -- The Women's Basketball team played their last game of the season at home against Lincoln Christian University. This was the second time this season the Panthers played the Red Lions and tonight was a completely different game. Losing 34-83 in the first game, Principia is a much different team scoring 58 points and playing great basketball. It was a team effort and a few highlights include 42 rebounds and shooting 15 for 17 from the free throw line. Principia had only 5 turnovers at halftime but Lincoln Christian's press in the second half caused a few turnovers. The Panthers also had two nice layups by
Christina Redington off the press break.
Good to Know:
Nikki Matters scored 28 points and
Sophia Hathaway had 22. Sophia led in rebounds with 13 and Nikki and
Sabrina Netherwood each had 7. Nikki was 10 for 10 from the free throw line.
Before the game, the team honored the five individuals that clean our gym, locker rooms and athletic facilities. We thank Mike, Trude, Kelly, Kevin and Curtis for all their work in our athletic facilities.
They said it:
"This was a great game to end the season. We improved so much since the first game against Lincoln Christian in November. And the good news is that all these ladies return next year. I couldn't be more proud of these classy women. They love playing together and play with a lot of heart. They never give up."
