Elsah, ILL. -- Rained out this last weekend, the Panthers made up one of the games today hosting the Blackburn Beavers. Freshman
Chris Stamos picked up his first start of the season and threw extremely well. He picked up right where he left off after his stellar relief appearance against Iowa Wesleyan. Stamos held the Beavers to two hits, no runs, and had nine strikeouts in six and a third innings. The Beavers made him work to get outs running up his pitch count and eventually knocking him from the game but were unable to piece anything together.
Aleq McMullin picked up the save entering a 4-0 game with runners on base and shutting the door. He had four strikeouts in two and two thirds innings. He surrendered one hit and the Beavers were able to push a single run across in the 9
th.
The Panther offence struck first scoring one in the second as
Chris Stamos singled to left to score his brother,
Alex Stamos. The Panthers scored again in the fourth when freshman shortstop,
Jack Adler singled in
Chris Stamos. Errors plagued the Beavers and allowed the Panthers to expand their lead picking up two more in the 4
th to make their lead 4-0. The Panthers plated 5 unearned runs in the 9
th to go up 9-0. Seven Panthers picked up hits and six of them had multiple hits.
A good win for the Panthers as they prepare to host Greenville University this weekend in a single 9 inning game on Friday and a double header Saturday.
