Elsah, IL. - The Panthers dropped last night's match against the Westminster Bluejays, 1-3.
The first half showed promise as the Panthers built an offensive attack, building from the back. Kaija Ufert would play beautiful passes into the offensive third for Edner Oloo to run down. After that, the ball was back and forth, with each team getting chances on counterattacks. The Bluejays would capitalize on an opportunity about 18min through the half to go up 1-0. The Panthers kept knocking at the Westminster door with good build-ups until finally catching a break. With 2 minutes left in half, Georgia Rather would take a free kick on frame catching the Westminster keeper off balance for Oloo to follow and finish. It would be the first goal of Oloo's career. The half would end 1-1.
The Panthers came out hard for the second half. The backline began stepping hard to put pressure on the Westminster forwards. However, the Panthers would also be plagued by injuries, forcing players to move to different positions. Westminster would capitalize on the Panther's vulnerable state and score two more goals to end the game 1-3. The Panthers did the best they could tonight, given the circumstances.
