Men's Soccer Loses to Westminster on the Road

Fulton, MO - Principia College Men's Soccer traveled to Fulton, Missouri to take on Westminster College on Tuesday evening.

A Look at the Game – Principia and Westminster played an even first half, with chances being created at both ends.  Defensively, the Panthers held Westminster off for the first half and prevented the Blue Jays from getting into dangerous areas.  In attack, Patrick Sherman and Cole Heinbaugh put threatening shots on the Westminster goal, but weren't able to find the back of the net.  The first half ended 0-0.  The second half started and instantly turned in Westminster's favor.  Off of the kickoff, Westminster got the ball forward quickly down the left flank, then sent a pass into the box that found Jordan Kahrhoff who tapped it in from 6 yards out.  The Principia men were not done though.  They fought hard and continued to create problems for Westminster.  However, Westminster rotated new players onto the field and Principia struggled to maintain their energy in the game.  In the 59th minute, Westminster won a free kick outside of Principia's box and Freddy Nene capitalized on a cross into the box to double the lead for the Blue Jays (Principia 0, Westminster 2).  Ten minutes later, as Principia sent more numbers forward in search of a goal to get them back in the game, Westminster found another goal through Patrick Wisnewski (Principia 0, Westminster 3).  In the 84th minute, Matthew Schulte scored again for the Blue Jays.  Final score; Principia 0, Westminster 4.

Coach Quote
"Tonight, we were given several challenges and ultimately came up short.  We played a strong first half and the early goal in the second half put us off of our game.  I am proud of the team for fighting through the adversity.  They will continue to lift each other up and get stronger as we go forward into the last few weeks of this season.  The result hurts, but this game will make us better."
