Box Score Elsah- In Principia's home opener, Wabash blanked Principia 2-0. While they did not manage to score, Coach
Jess Semnacher was pleased with how his team stayed the course. "Scoreline aside, I'm happy with the effort the men put out on the field tonight. There was a lot of good fights and the men stuck to our game plan. We learned a ton out there tonight and had some great moments against a strong Wabash side. Lots to build on for sure."
Principia's solid defensive effort was led by central defenders
Jack Beckett and
EG Pierce, as well as stellar play by sophomore newcomer
Marshall Needham. Wabash served plenty of crosses into the box, but more than often, they fell into goalkeeper
Jacob Ellis' cushioned hands. Ellis also had a fantastic fingertip save that pushed the ball just high enough to ricochet off of the post and away to safety.
Principia struggled to create many shots on goal, but saw improved counter attack in the second half. Reginald Kiwhele and
Pablo Alas did a nice job staying composed while passing forward, and forward Junior Baraza was exceptional in holding the ball up, allowing Principia to get numbers behind the ball.
Up Next: Principia's game next Tuesday will be their first conference game of the season, as they take on Fontbonne University at home at 6pm.
