Elsah IL. - During the Panthers' first home game of the season they fell 8-0 to the #1 seeded Fontbonne University Griffins.
The Griffins never let up throughout the entire game. The Panthers were under constant attack with Griffins 35 shots – 26 on goal – but goalkeeper
Leslie Barrera made 18 important saves. Despite the score, the Panthers showed resilience and grit the whole 90 minutes. Leading the charge was
Kaija Ufert, who played three different positions to fill a need on the field. Center back,
Olivia Scott and outside back,
Rachael Williams worked well together on the left side to keep Fontbonne's attack at bay.
Viviane de Castro led the Panthers' few chances at goal, supported by
Adriana Rucks and
Edner Oloo. Dafne Muniz and
Laura Mayo made their first college debut in tonight's game.
Up Next: The Panthers play again this Saturday, September 18th, at home against Eureka College at 3:30pm. We hope to see you there or tune in to the live stream!
