Eureka IL. - The Principia Volleyball team traveled to Eureka College for a tri-match with Eureka and Illinois Tech out of Chicago. The Panthers played Eureka in the first match and lost in 3 sets. However, there were some excellent moments for the team as all of their skills continued to improve, and they learned how to work better together as a team. The difference in this match was mainly an experience. There were some solid performances from sophomore
Angie Whitmore and junior
Lindsey Huffman. Both players put themselves in the right place to keep rallies going and give Prin the best chance to win the point. In the end, though, too many unforced errors proved to be the team's undoing.
In the second match, the Panthers could play a big, fast and talented Illinois Tech team. After struggling for points in the first two sets, the team put together its best effort for game 3, staying close until the end. Strong passing and setting from freshman
Neha Bandrapalli and well-placed hitting by junior
Madi Leslie and freshman
Paige Fowler kept the set competitive. The coaches continue to find the right combination in lineups, and as players settle into their roles, better results should follow.
Up Next: The Panthers head to Greenville on Tuesday, September 21st, and return to Eureka to play Eureka and Spaulding on Friday, September 24th.
