Fulton, MO. - Last night, the Panthers played the Westminster Blue Jays in a close 1-0 loss. The field was turf which can make the game fast and the surface unforgiving. However, the Panther defense did a great job keeping the Blue Jay attack at bay. It was hard work, but they stayed disciplined, and it paid off!
Panther keeper, Leslie Barrera, was the player of the match. She made clean saves, was excellent off her line, and was aggressive on crosses. The Panthers had some excellent build-up combination play despite the hard surface with a few chances at goal. Forwards, Georgia Rather, and Adriana Rucks played a vital role in the Panther attack, making the Blue Jay defense weary. The midfield was run by Viviane de Castro and Lili Mattia, who were vital parts of the Panther's build and combination play.
Coach Flemming said "It was a team effort tonight, and the Panthers look forward to building on the progress as they look to sharpen their defensive shape and dangerous attack."
