Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer's Defense Tested Against Strong Greenville Team

Greenville, IL. - Principia women's soccer traveled to Greenville, IL. to play a conference game and lost 0-4.

The Greenville Panthers attacked with a strong force right from the first whistle, forcing the Principia Panthers on their heels. The Principia Panthers would hold them from scoring for a while, but the Greenville panthers would get their chance 20min in from a free-kick hit into the box, heading it past Principia keeper Leslie Barrera. Barrera had a fantastic game, making seven crucial saves and coming off her line to support the back line. Although the rest of Greenville's goals would be shot high out of Barrera's reach, we don't believe any other goalkeeper would have fared differently- they were great goals. For the entire game, the Principia Panthers buckled down and defended hard for 90 minutes.  With 28 shots by Greenville, 11 being on the frame- they did their part in only keeping it to 4 goals.

Head Coach Meagan Fleming commentated, "Greenville is an excellent team and exposed many areas of our game that need improvement, which will only make us better moving forward."

Up Next: The Panthers play this Saturday, October 2nd, at home against Spalding University at 3:30 pm. We look forward to seeing you there or via our live stream, which the link can be found on our schedules page.
