Elsah, IL. - The Panthers hosted defending conference champion Westminster Blue Jays tonight in Hay Field House.
The team got off to a slow start losing the first set 25-8. Despite some early strong passing by
Lindsey Huffman and
Angie Whitmore, they could not get anything going offensively. In set number 2, things began to click more as outside hitters
Alana Hinson and
Paige Fowler started getting better sets and swings. The Blue Jays played consistently on offense and defense and defeated the Panthers 25-16. Set 3 was Principia's best effort as it stayed point for point with Westminster most of the way before losing 25-18. The front row for Principia had some nice blocks and touches by
Madi Leslie and
Lydia Klutho. Setter
Neha Bandrapalli had one of her best efforts despite working through an injury.
Overall, the team continues to move closer to a more consistent and steady volleyball brand, which will be important going into the weekend against Fontbonne and Westminster once again.
Coach Eisenauer said, "We are closer than they think. A step here and there, and we will make more plays. A little faster, and we will generate more kills. It's getting closer."
Up Next: Volleyball will be traveling to St. Louis, MO., to play in a Tri-Match against Fontbonne University and Westminster College on Saturday, October 2nd, at 1 pm.
