ELSAH, IL – The Principia Women's Soccer team hosted conference-leading Fontbonne University on Tuesday night, falling 2-0 to the undefeated Griffins.
The visitors jumped out to an early lead, scoring in the 5th minute. Another goal in the 19th minute would be the end of the scoring for the game. Due to injuries to both of Principia's goalkeepers, senior
Georgia Rather stepped up to fill the position for the night. In the first half, Rather made 11 saves off of the Griffins consistent attack.
The Panthers met Fontbonne in the second half with a stubborn discipline, limiting them to only three shots on goal and generating more offensive threat as the half wore on. Principia proved hard for the Griffins to break down, and the game ending in only a two-goal difference shows how strong a defensive game the Panthers played.
