Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball scores 100 for sixth straight home win

ELSAH, IL – In their first game post Thanksgiving Break, the Principia Men's Basketball team hosted the Maranatha Baptist Sabercats in their final home non-conference matchup. The Panthers came into the game 5-1, including an unblemished 5-0 record at home, while the Sabercats came into the game searching for their first win of the season. Principia came out focused on both ends of the court and raced out to an early 34-4 lead. The Panthers never looked back and rolled to a 100-48 victory.
Maranatha Baptist was able to score the first 2 points of the game on a layup, but from there on, it was all Principia. Jake Kampf started the Panthers off strong with back-to-back three pointers. A Kevin Wingert layup with 10 minutes left in the half gave Principia a 34-4 lead. Principia stretched the lead up to 38 points at 50-12 before a 7-0 run by the Sabercats made it 50-19 to close the half.
The second half was more of the same for the Panthers, as they started off with a steal and layup from Jaquan Adams. The Panthers were balanced throughout the game finishing with five players scoring in double figures, four of which had 16 or more. Principia ended the game with super sub, Jake Erickson, hitting a three pointer to push the Panthers to 100 points – their first triple digit game of the season.
Good to Know: Kevin Wingert led the Panthers in points with 20, which is a new career-high for him! Principia had 18 steals for the game, led by Clark Davidson with 5, while only having 4 turnovers themselves. The Panthers are now 6-0 at home and will look to keep that undefeated record when they enter conference play in January.
Up Next: The Panthers have the rest of the week off before having two exhibition games against Division 2 opponents Missouri S&T and Maryville next week. Both games are on the road, but if you are in the area, come out and support the Panthers!
