ELSAH, IL – The Panthers' Men's Soccer team hosted Spalding University for a conference match up on Thursday evening as they looked to bounce back from their scoreless tie at Blackburn.
Freshman
Wizzy Afrani got Principia off to a hot start in the 13th minute.
Christian Tresoldi sent a ball into the box, and the loose ball off a deflection found Afrani about thirty yards from the Spalding net. Afrani made made no mistake as he pounded a one touch into the top right corner past the Golden Eagles' stunned keeper for a 1-0 lead.

Chances went back and forth the rest of the night, but Afrani's goal proved to be all the Panthers needed as no other goals were scored. The closest Principia came to extending their lead came in the 32nd minute when Tresoldi headed the ball into the cross bar off a corner kick, and the Spalding keeper made two ensuing saves off of rebound attempts by
Matheus Dos Santos Reis.

Torben Rehnert made nine saves for his third consecutive clean sheet. Rehnert and Principia now have four shutouts this fall, and Rehnert's goals against average for the season is down to 0.72.
Up Next: The Panthers will take their shutout streak on the road on Saturday against the team with the top record in the conference. Principia faces off with Webster University at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park in St. Louis at 3:30 pm.
