SLIAC Coach of the Year headlines Prin WBB conference awards

ELSAH, IL – At the conclusion of the SLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament on Saturday, the conference handed out their 2022-23 season awards, and four members of the Panthers were recognized for their roles in Principia's turnaround season!

SLIAC Coach of the Year – Ramiro Dominguez
Coach Ro receives this well-deserved honor voted on by his peers after leading the Panthers to 11 more wins than last season. He says this is all because of the talented and hard-working women on his team, but his coaching, leadership, and how much his athletes love playing for him have been huge factors behind the team's success.

SLIAC Second Team All-Conference – Taylor Brown
Brown had an outstanding freshman year leading the Panthers in scoring with 347 points (14.5 ppg). Not only can she shoot a three or drive to the basketball and score at will, but she is also a phenomenal passer. Brown led the entire conference in assists this season with 89 and her distributing made all her teammates better. Brown put the SLIAC on notice in her first collegiate campaign to earn Second Team All-Conference.

SLIAC Third Team All-Conference and All-Defensive Team – Ariana Williams
The other half of Principia's fab freshmen duo is Williams, who also had an amazing first year as a Panther. She is a defensive wizard as she used her incredible athleticism to block 29 shots (1.2 per game) and make 66 steals (2.8 per game), leading Principia by a mile in both categories. She also finished second on the team in points (290) and rebounds (169) on her way to a Third Team All-Conference and All-Defensive Team selections.

SLIAC All-Tournament Team and All-Sportsmanship Team – Alana Hinson
As the MVP of Principia's narrow quarterfinal loss with a 21 pt + 14 reb double double, Hinson was named to the All-Tournament Team. She was also the Panthers' co-captain and led the team with grace on and off the court – even when she suffered a mid-season injury that kept her off the floor for a month. This is the second year in a row that Hinson has been chosen for the All-Sportsmanship team.

Congrats to Ramiro, Taylor, Ariana, and Alana!
