ELSAH, IL – This summer, we are recapping the Principia College athletes and coaches who were recently selected for the three SLIAC All-Decade teams. Next up is Men's Cross Country!
The Principia Men's Cross Country program has won a total of 5 SLIAC team championships (1990, 1991, 1995, 2011, 2013) with 11 individual championships.

1990-1999:
Robert Baker (Coach)
Baker won three SLIAC Coach of the Year titles during the decade, guiding Principia to SLIAC team titles in '90, '91, and '95.
Kevin Capp
Capp won the first three SLIAC individual titles in conference history while helping Principia to back-to-back championships in 1990 and 1991.
2000-2009:
Brian Bort
Bort was named All-Conference each of his four years in college including three as a First Team selection.
Drew Clark
Clark was the 2009 Runner of the Year when he earned First Team All-Conference honors. He went on to win Runner of the Year in 2010 as well.
Ben Glass
A four-time First Team All-Conference performer, Glass was the 2006 Runner of the Year.
Dave Holinger
Holinger was a three-time All-Conference runner including twice as a First Team selection.
Donnie Miller
Miller was tabbed All-Conference all four years with the Panthers and picked up First Team honors in 2004 and 2005.
Simon Njoroge
Njoroge earned All-Conference honors all four years including a First Team nod in 2003.
Jeff Strickland
Strickland was named All-Conference three times during the decade including First Team in 2007 and 2009.
Peter Swank
Swank received All-Conference honors four times, twice as a First Teamer, and was the 2007 Runner of the Year.
2010-2019:
Derrick Fleming
Fleming was a four-time First Team All-Conference performer during his Panther career.
Wylie Mangelsdorf
Mangelsdorf is one of the best men's cross country runners in conference history. He was the SLIAC Runner of the Year and individual champion in 2013 and was named First Team All-Conference all four years. Mangelsdorf qualified for Nationals three times, earning All-American honors twice, and placing 5th in 2013; the highest finish ever by a SLIAC runner.
Zach Matthiesen
Matthiesen earned All-Conference honors all four years, three times as a First Team member. He was a two-time individual champion and was the SLIAC Runner of the Year in 2016. He was one of three Principia men who qualified for Nationals when Principia hosted in 2017, finishing 66th.
Abe Ott
Ott was named All-Conference three times including twice as a First Team selection.
Nate Richards
Richards earned First Team All-Conference three times and was named the SLIAC Runner of the Year in 2014 when he won the individual championship. He was one of three Principia men who qualified for Nationals when Principia hosted in 2017, finishing 96th.
Shane Witters-Hicks
A four time All-Conference pick, Witters-Hicks earned First Team honors twice during his career and was the SLIAC Runner of the Year in 2017. He was one of three Principia men who qualified for Nationals when Principia hosted in 2017, finishing 42nd.
