Men's Cross Country

Cross Country finishes second and fourth at SLIAC Championship

LITCHFIELD, IL – The Principia men's and women's cross country teams competed at the SLIAC Championship meet on Saturday at the Litchfield Country Club. It was a cool and sunny day with great conditions for racing.

In the team standings, the men finished second overall and the women finished fourth out of the nine colleges in attendance. The men finished with the fastest team average in over a decade.

Five Panther runners finished the race in the top 16, earning All-Conference honors. Freshman Nina Martinez finished 16th overall to earn second team all-conference honors with a personal record by over a minute, finishing in a time of 26:53. Holland Thomas was another first year with a big day, finishing with a big personal best to also earn 16th place. Sophomore Kennett Rampley finished in 14th place and junior Rex Heath finished in 9th place to help the men toward their overall runner-up team finish. Junior Zach Proctor led the Panthers by finishing in seventh place to earn his first ever First Team All-Conference honors in cross country with another big personal best performance.

The Panthers will close out their season on Saturday, November 16th when they head back to the Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois to race at NCAA DIII Midwest Regionals.
