ELSAH, IL – With one week to go until conference season begins, the Panthers Men's Soccer team hosted the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The undefeated Warhawks got on the board two minutes into the game, and then hard collision on a 50-50 ball between forward
Cade Pecheck and Whitewater keeper Duncan Morgan in the 38th minute resulted in a straight red card for Pecheck. Undeterred by having to play with ten men the rest of the game, the Panthers showed resilience and only gave up one more goal the rest of the way. Unfortunately, despite some moments of quality in the second half, the Panthers were unable to put one past Morgan, and the Warhawks got the 2-0 win.
Some standout players for Principia were
Christian Tresoldi,
Leander Linsler, and
Diego Alas. Tresoldi worked hard the whole game and was constantly a threat to the opponent, including an upper 90 shot that was saved late in the game. Linsler read the game well and made some key interceptions. Alas was a relentless outlet who helped create many chances.
Up Next: The Panthers will continue gearing up for SLIAC play with one more non-conference game at Monmouth on Tuesday at 3:30 pm as they look to secure their second win.
