CLAYTON, MO – The Principia Volleyball team took on Fontbonne University on Tuesday evening down in St. Louis, falling in straight sets.
As always, there were some bright spots despite another 3-0 loss. Freshman
Alex Kibbe played tremendously throughout the match with outstanding plays both offensively and defensively, contributing timely kills and digs. Freshman
Sam Borton-Center continues to provide a confidence on the court that motivates each of her teammates and leads to greater performance by all. The team as a whole did a great job blocking shots by Fontbonne. It seemed like the Panthers had more blocks and block touches in this match than in all their other games combined.
The Panthers continue to focus on patience, resilience, and getting stronger technically as they work to rebuild their program. Most of the team is in their first year of college and are still learning and adjusting to the collegiate level. The progress shown in this match shows that they are moving rapidly in the right direction. In training, the team spends a considerable amount of time reviewing film which allows them to incorporate real-time strategies and results in big payoffs. With their continued focus on execution, they are getting stronger and more competitive each time they hit the floor. Plus, they are showing incredible patience to not get frustrated – staying focused on their craft rather than their opponent's skill level.
Up Next: The team will head to Greenville University on Saturday for another conference tri-match beginning at 12:00 pm.
