EUREKA, IL – The Principia women's soccer team earned their second win of the season on Saturday by shutting out Eureka College on the road. The Panthers scored twice in each half, with both sets of goals coming less than a minute apart.
Zoe Houseman opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, sending a free kick directly into the net for her second goal of the season. Roughly 30 seconds later,
Dachelle Carter extended the lead to 2-0, netting her team-leading fourth goal of the season off a perfect pass from
Mirsa Boyer.
Boyer continued her strong play in the second half, finding the back of the net in the 75th minute for her third goal of the season. Just under a minute later, Boyer turned provider again, setting up
Zayana Brown, who scored her first goal of the season to cap off the 4-0 victory.
Principia's defense held firm throughout the match by only allowing one shot on goal, while goalkeeper
Leslie Barrera secured her first solo clean sheet of the season. The Panthers will look to extend their winning streak when they host MUW on Thursday at 5:30 pm.
