ELSAH, IL – After their home openers were postponed on Friday due to thunderstorms, the Panthers men's and women's soccer teams each opened their 2024 seasons by hosting Nebraska Wesleyan University on Saturday evening. The Prairie Wolves cruised to dominant victories in both games, defeating the Principia women 8-0 and the Principia men 5-0.
Women's standout players:
- NWU's Averie Hike led the scoring for the Prairie Wolves with two goals and an assist.

Christin Walls was peppered with shots all night as she made 10 saves, including multiple strong diving efforts.
Men's standout players:
- NWU's Thomas Pisasale had a big night with three goals, including two well-placed set piece deliveries that found the back of the net.
- Panthers forward
Effenberg Joya led the team with four shots on goal.
Both Principia teams will look to rebound with multiple home games in the coming week. The men's next game is on Monday at 5:30 PM vs Wabash College, while the women's next game is on Thursday at 7:00 PM vs Illinois College.
