ELSAH, IL – The Principia women's basketball team had a game to forget on Tuesday evening as they lost 81-44 to the Westminster Blue Jays in Hay Field House.
The Blue Jays stormed out to a 21-2 lead just over seven minutes into the game and continued to dominate for the duration of the first half. Trailing 51-16 at halftime, the Panthers were desperate to get some offense going in the second half and chip away at the Blue Jays' lead. However, Principia continued to struggle shooting, and Westminster grew its lead as high as 41 late in the fourth. The only bright spot for the Panthers was
Ariana Williams scoring 21 points for her highest scoring game since 2023.
The Panthers will be ready to get back in the win column on Saturday when they head to Blackburn College to take on a Beavers team still looking for their first conference win.
