Men's Track and Field

Koranteng extends his triple jump record at Jim Green Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, IL – Some members of the Principia College track & field team competed in the Jim Green Invitational on Saturday for their second meet of the season at Illinois College.

The Panthers' highlight of the meet came at the very end when Nana Koranteng extended his school and conference record in the indoor triple jump with a massive jump of 14.41 meters (47' 3.5") in his fifth attempt. The record leap gave Koranteng first place in the event and catapulted him into a tie for sixth in all of NCAA Division III this season. The top 22 will qualify for indoor nationals, so he is in good position with about a month to go to improve his distance even further. Koranteng was voted SLIAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight week.

Sana Udoekong continued her strong start to her first collegiate track season finishing second in both the 400 meters (1:01.31) and the 200 meters (26.58). The 400 was her first of the year and is a personal best which is the fastest in the conference this season. Udoekong was named SLIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the third time in four weeks. Myka Fenton also ran a top conference time for 2025 on Saturday with a PR in the 800 meters of 2:33.63.

Elsewhere for the Panther women, Kiara Smith and Mirsa Boyer had strong showings. Both had personal bests in the 60 meters, Smith extended her high jump and long jump PRs, while Boyer also ran a PRs in 200 meters. On the men's side, Zach Proctor ran a personal best in the 3000 meters (9:26.30) to move into second in the 2025 conference rankings. Freshmen Holland Thomas (mile and 3000m) and Owen Hofman (mile and 800m) each ran double PRs.

Principia will host a mini jumps and throws meet on Wednesday, February 19, before heading back to Illinois College on Friday, February 21 for one more indoor meet before the conference championships.
