Ruth Hummell receives 2025 SLIAC Post-Graduate Scholarship

ELSAH, IL – Congratulations to senior Ruth Hummell, who was selected as this year's female recipient of the SLIAC Post-Graduate Scholarship award!

Hummell is a double major in Global Studies and Spanish who currently holds a 3.94 GPA. She was a three-year member of Principia women's tennis team and was a captain of last year's conference championship winning squad. Hummell is also the president of the Phi Alpha Eta Honors Society and Half the Sky, a student-run club focused on global women's issues. Previously, she served as president of Anderson House on campus for two years and was part of student government for an additional year.

"Ruth is a self-directed and self-motivated individual," says Sally Steindorf, the Global Studies Department Chair at Principia College. "Ruth is a strong researcher, an evidence based writer, and a critical, interdisciplinary thinker. In class, she is a consistent contributor who regularly raises the level of discussion with her contributions."

After graduating this spring, Hummell will be attending George Washington University's prestigious Elliot School of International Affairs. We can't wait to witness all she continues to accomplish in the years to come.
