Williams reaches 1000 career points as WBB sets program scoring record

BATESVILLE, AR – The Principia women's basketball team had another historic day for the program on Saturday. In their conference matchup at Lyon College in Arkansas, the Panthers lit up the scoreboard from start to finish and put up 113 points for the highest single-game point total in team history (also top ten in SLIAC history). The 36-point victory marks the Principia women's fourth SLIAC win of the season.

Senior Ariana Williams came into the game needing just three points to reach 1000 in her college career. Five minutes in, she made back-to-back lay ups to reach the career milestone as she celebrated with her teammates during the ensuing timeout. Williams carried the early momentum and had her best game of the season with 24 points (just one off her career-high) along with 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals.

Williams' teammates followed her lead and were collectively locked in for all four quarters. Hannah Myers had her third double-double of the season with 21 points and a career-best 15 rebounds, plus 2 assists and 4 steals. Taylor Brown tied her season-high of 18 points as well as 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Trinniti Matthews and Genesis Santiago each finished with 15 points, while Lamiya Terrell secured a career-high 11 rebounds along with 9 points of her own.

Overall, the Panthers made 11 threes (4 by Myers and 3 each by Brown and Santiago) and shot over 45% in the blowout win. After a dominant southern road trip with wins at MUW and Lyon, Principia returns home for three straight games in Hay Field House, beginning on Tuesday at 5:30 PM vs Eureka.
