The volleyball team traveled north to take on the Prairie Fire of Knox College. The Panthers had Isabelle Tetu at the helm as the setter tonight, and she did a fine job running the offense and distributing the balls. Principia struggled at the beginning, trading the lead too often with Knox. Principia won game one, but lost a 24-26 decision in game 2. Principia started the match with too many unforced hitting errors, and they were missing the scrappy defensive play they wanted to bring. But by game three, the team had their house in order, and the next two games were decisively Principia's.
The court was inspired by Katie Duntley's play all night long, as she continually denied the Knox hitters with her sharp blocking, while putting down 10 kills (.240 ) that defied the Knox blockers and pumped up Principia. Katie was also a leading server with 4 aces. Teddye Shaffer played aggressive defense, picking up 11 hard hit Knox balls. Anne Goodrich-Stuart led the team with 14 kills (.308) and 94% serving.
The Panthers head to Fontbonne on Saturday to play Westminster and Blackburn Colleges as they step into SLIAC play.
