The Principia women's tennis team defeated Greenville College in a tight match on Monday with a score of 5-4. Greenville had recently defeated Westminster college 5-4, and Principia was defeated by Westminster 5-4, keeping all three teams extremely close as they move forward in their conference matches. In doubles, only Principia's #1 doubles team was able to pull out a win against Greenville with a score of 8-4. Both #2 and #3 doubles fought hard and had close matches with scores of 8-5 and 9-7, respectively.
In singles, Sarah Corbitt, Heather Libbe, Caroline Korthals, and Courtney Banko all won their matches. Libbe's #3 match was the deciding match that clinched the victory for Principia. Korthals played some of her best tennis of the season to defeat Avery Cole quickly with a score of 6-2 6-0. Courtney Banko had a breakthrough performance at #6 singles and played more consistently than she has yet this year.
The women play again on Tuesday, April 6, against Eureka at home at 6pm. Doubles will begin outside at 6pm and singles will be played inside Hexberg after the completion of doubles.
