GREENVILLE, ILL. -- Tonight Principia lost 0-3 to the talented Greenville team, who is a top three team in SLIAC conference. Greenville started the game with very strong serves, hindering Principia's ability for a good first pass and an effective return. Greenville's tough serving in addition to their huge blocking and hitting dominated Principia's offense. Because Principia had trouble getting a good first pass, they couldn't find many opportunities to run an offense. When they did run an offense, Greenville put a big block up to stifle hard hits. At first Principia hitters hit right into the block, but then they began to make Greenville diggers work more with off-speed hits around the block.
Principia's libero,
Ally Read, played great defense with 25 digs in the match. Also,
Tara Edwards and
Catherine Speer were 100% from the service line while
Isabelle Tetu was 91%. The Principia Panthers' next matches will be against Spalding and Rose-Hulman this weekend in Louisville, Kentucky.
