Principia and Spalding took the court at 8pm Friday night to begin a two day round of matches. Spalding was predicted to control the night, but Principia grabbed a corner of it beating Spalding 25-9 in a tough serving, hard hitting game of the match. In the end, Spalding definitely controlled the play beating Principia 3-1 for the evening.
Principia has been known for their error free offense this season, but tonight Prin posted 16% error on the offensive side of the ball. This didn't allow Prin to establish much rhythm and that seemed to spill over a bit into their passing.
The Gold and Blue put up a fight off and on throughout the match, but couldn't stay the course. Spalding had a slow start, but after being lambasted by Principia 25-9 they picked their game up big time, and took control of the match.
Highlights include a nice match for
Summer Switzer. She was a consistent competitor from beginning to end, and picked up 6 kills and 9 digs.
Kiersten Andersen (12) and
Savanna Sprague(10) were in the double digits for digs, and Kiersten continued her tradition of double-doubles with 12 kills as well.
Tess Rountree's serve was a force to be reckoned with in game two. She served up 4 aces that really put the momentum in Prin's favor.
Even though it wasn't Prin's best outing, Coach Sprague is happy with the moments of great scrappy defensive play, and tough serving shown today.
