St. Louis, MO. -- Principia College women's soccer traveled to Wash U in St. Louis tonight for a game against the Nationally Ranked #2 team in the country.
In the 11th minute, Wash U found their first goal of the game and didn't look back. Two more goals in the first half were conceded by the Panthers but many blocks, saves and thwarted attacks occurred as well. In the final 10 minutes of the first half, Principia really started to demonstrate composure on the ball and were able to get out of some tight situations through passing and moving the ball.
The second half was another hard-fought half. The Bears only put one goal away and that didn't occur until the final 5 minutes of the game making the final score 4-0.
Emelie Fredrikson really led the team with her tenacity on defense and her composure offensively.
Principia brought their hardest-working attitudes and played hard for 90 minutes. It set the bar for what the effort needs to be in the conference home game tomorrow versus Blackburn.
They said it:
"The bar for effort, fearlessness and drive has been set. We will expect and accept nothing less going forward."
