Elsah, ILL. -- Principia women's soccer hosted the Greenville Panthers today in a conference match-up. Before the game began the weather conditions were blustery and wet. But as the women's game started, the skies cleared and a beautiful day for soccer came about.
In the first ten minutes, Principia gave up what would be the two goals with which the game would end. With the field still wet and a couple of missed clearances, Greenville found themselves ahead quickly. Principia did not stop though.
Principia played their most attacking game yet. With a lot of up and back, give and take, the game demanded a lot from the players on both sides of the ball. Stand out games went to keeper
Libby Lewis who had some huge saves and really stepped up her game. Junior captain
Madison Arens played incredibly tough in the midfield in what was a very physical game. And finally,
Clarice Bruch had another tenacious game winning most 50/50 balls and flying at defenders.
They said it:
"The players continue to work hard and it is heart-breaking for me that they are not yet consistently seeing the fruits of their labor. However, I'm grateful for their continued joy in the effort."
