St. Louis, MO. – The Principia College Women's Basketball team played against Robert Morris Springfield tonight in a "home" contest held on the Principia School campus in St. Louis. The gym was packed with fans from the St. Louis area, including many Principia alums.
The Panthers started off a little slow, falling behind in the first quarter 8-19, but then started their fight back and found themselves within eight points of the Eagles by halftime.
After being outscored in the 3
rd quarter, the team fought back and scored 27 points in the fourth quarter to tie up the game and send it into overtime. In overtime the Panthers outscored Robert Morris 15-10 and brought home their first victory of the season.
The Panthers out-rebounded the Robert Morris Eagles with 58 total rebounds. Principia shot 94% from the free throw line, and shot 60% from the field in the fourth quarter.

Sophia Hathaway led the Panthers in scoring with 38 points and 23 rebounds, while sophomore
Nikki Matters contributed 22 points. It was a total team effort for Principia, with the team displaying tough defense and patience running the offense in the 4
th quarter.

"This was a great game for the team. Robert Morris and Principia were very evenly matched and it was exciting until the end. I can't say enough about how important it was that the team was 18-19 from the free throw line. The players have been working hard on their free throw shooting and it has paid off."
