Orange County, CA—
Principia's #1 doubles duo,
Paige Cooley and
Caitlin Carney, started the day with an 8-4 win over Chapman's #1 team. The team hit strong returns and both held their serves to complete their win. The #2 doubles team,
Hallie Jones and
Gracie Buchanan, struggled to hold their serves and get their returns in and were unable to secure a game. The #3 team,
Anh Vu and
Nathalie DeLoach, started out strong and held a lead but the opponents closed the net and were able to put away the high balls.
In singles, the highlight was #5 singles,
Anh Vu, who played a strong baseline game and didn't make any errors.
Hallie Jones, #6 singles, lost the first set by a one-sided score of 6-0. She then started to close the net and finished off many points with overheads. She played a strong set but lost 7-5, in a good comeback.
Caitlin Carney, #3 singles, was down 5-2 in the first set and played well to level the match at 5-5, but she was not able to hold serve and lost the set 7-5.
