Elsah, IL—Principia women's team plays well in defeating Westminster 6-3, and improves their conference record to 2-0. After a tough pre-season schedule the women players are finding their own in conference play. Principia wins first and second doubles to take a 2-1 lead.
Paige Cooley, #1 singles, played a forceful baseline game winning most of her points with down the line strikes.
Caitlin Carney, #3 singles, moved well and played a steady game in defeating her opponent in straight sets.
Nathalie DeLoach, #4 singles, was consistent with her groundstrokes and outlasted her opponent.
Anh Vu, #5 singles, hit several angled crosscourt backhands to take control of her match.
Dani Lomascolo, #6 singles, was defeated in her first conference singles match.
Gracie Buchanan, #2 singles, competed well.
The women resume their conference play next week with three matches. They are at home against Webster on April 13 and Greenville on Saturday April 15, senior day. Come out and support the team at the updated Hexberg Tennis venue, which has stadium bleacher seating and a new shade covering for spectators.
