Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer showed promise in loss to regional opponent Dominican

Chicago, IL. -- The Women's Soccer team started their campaign on Friday night in the greater Chicago area against the Dominican University Stars.

The first half put the Stars up 3-0 with a goal in the first five minutes. Principia was able to get off two shots to Dominican's seven.

The second half provided more opportunities for Dominican who capitalized two more times to finish out their scoring. However, Principia did possess at a much higher rate and definitely gave fits to the Stars' back line right through the 90th minute. Despite the score, the majority of the team played some really quality soccer.  Throughout the game there were a lot of great learning opportunities for the Panthers, things they will continue to do, as well as things to improve upon.

Key moment
Captain Emelie Fredrikson stepped in as a center back and the dynamic immediately changed. Sophomore Brittany Ouellette slid into the midfield and those adjustments really gave a sense of poise and strength to the Principia attack.

Good to know
This marks Head Coach Meagan Fleming's first game at the helm of the program.

They said it
"Despite the goals, I feel like I saw a lot of really good progress and grit that we can build off of, starting even tomorrow. I think these games are important to learn from so that the players have opportunities to grow through their successes as well as their mistakes."
