ELSAH, IL-Â The Principia Panthers hosted the Webster Gorlocks today in Elsah. After a nearly two hour delay due to lightning the game finally got started.
Â
In an intense first half, keeper
Hannah Hathaway made several huge saves and the Panthers overall played with intensity and passion. There was no doubt that Principia was playing with the top-ranked Gorlocks. The Panthers conceded one goal before halftime but they were fighting and working hard.
Â
As the second half started though, Webster came out and were not to be stopped. Principia was not able to match the constant subbing of fresh legs from the opposition. The inability to control the ball after forcing mistakes and winning it meant that Principia made unforced errors and gave the ball right back. The Panthers gave up four more goals in the half.
Â
Hathaway had some amazing saves in the second half including two intense, close-ranged rapid fire shots that had the crowd on their feet. With solid play from
Tara Adhikari, intense hustle from
Edner Oloo, and rock wall Hathaway, the Panthers forced the Gorlocks to play better to get the win.
